What's the Plan for Boy World | Girl World?
By: Elise Banks, School Counselor, St. Mark's Episcopal School
As we close the school year, the focus is to help our students zone in on the Honor Code and Mission Statement laid before them. After taking a small break from the Boy World | Girl World Program to reflect on the intent and well being of how we would like this program to serve our students, we have decided to lean toward a specific focus on how to help our students end this academic school year and transition to the new school year that awaits them in the Fall. Here are the details of the four remaining sessions:
- Session 1: Respect
- Session 2: Responsibility
- Session 3: Kindness
- Session 4: Legacy
Each leader will spend time with their students through discussion and activities helping define each student's individual definition of respect, responsibility, and kindness, while also taking a deeper look into how each of these themes can be displayed in our community. The final session will give students time to look back on their year and think about what advice they would like to give to the students who follow them.
The sessions will be held during 1st period of Tuesday mornings. The dates of these sessions will be March 28, April 4, April 25, and May 2 for 5th, 6th, and 8th grade students. The 7th graders will meet on March 29, April 5, April 26, and May 3.
We are looking forward to finishing the year strong with our amazing students. We know it is conversations, such as these, which will help us do so! Also, if you missed my blog explaining the Boy World | Girl World program, please click here.
