Work at St. Mark's

St. Mark’s Episcopal School of Houston, TX, accepts applications for employment from qualified individuals. Positions are filled as they open. Application information is kept on file for one year.

Teachers are required to hold a degree in their teaching field (early childhood, elementary, middle school) and have training and experience in early childhood, elementary, primary or middle schools, commensurate with their requested position. Administrative and staff positions require experience and training supportive of the position. Salaries at St. Mark’s are competitive with local public and private schools.

Substitute teachers should be degreed and preferably experienced. Substitute teachers must complete the same procedures as an applicant for full-time employment.

7th Grade Science Teacher

St. Mark’s Episcopal School in Houston, Texas is seeking a creative, organized, team player to serve as a 7th Grade Science Teacher (Life Science). This is an important member of the middle school faculty and reports directly to the Head of Middle School. We are looking for a forward-thinking and student-centered professional educator who is motivated by problem solving and leading students at this stage of their development.

The St. Mark’s 7th Grade Science Teacher is a crucial position for the students, families, and faculty at St. Mark’s Episcopal School.While this position encompasses many different duties, its primary function is to plan, organize and implement an appropriate science instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

Primary Functions:

Middle School Language Arts Teacher

The Middle School Language Arts Teacher is an important member of the Middle School faculty and reports directly to the Head of Middle School. We are looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking and student-centered professional educator who is motivated by problem solving and leading students at this stage of their development and understands the role that technology plays in supporting the educational experience of 21st century learners.

Long Term Substitute - Elementary Teaching Assistant

St. Mark’s Episcopal School in Houston, Texas is seeking a long-term substitute to serve as an elementary teaching assistant for the six weeks beginning January 8, 2018 and ending in early to mid-February.

The primary job of an elementary teaching assistant at St. Mark’s is to work with the lead teachers to support student learning through small group or individualized instruction.Other responsibilities may include: helping to maintain the classroom environment, preparing student materials and supervising the students in the classroom, on the playground and at lunch. As a member of the Lower School faculty, the assistant is expected to support the mission and philosophy of the school. Experience guiding children between the ages of six and nine in a school setting along with an education degree is preferred.

After School Teachers

St. Mark’s Episcopal School has openings for Preschool through Middle School teachers and substitute teachers in our After School Program for the 2017-2018 school year.

Qualifications: Must be 20 + years old

Child care and/or teaching experience with children strongly preferred.

Responsibilities: Supervising and interacting with students during age appropriate activities, snack and recess times. Assist elementary and middle school students with homework.

Hours: 2:30-6:00 PM Flexible if needed.

Salary: $12 / hour

Middle School Coaches

The Athletic department is seeking qualified coaches for Middle School girls volleyball teams, girls and boys basketball teams, and boys and girls track teams.

Hours are after the school day (Monday through Thursday): Hours vary on game days as game times depend on the game schedule: approximately, 3:00 – 6:30 P.M. Two hour practices are staggered for girls’ volleyball and basketball practices and vary within the hours of 3:00-7:00 PM.

At least two Fridays and/or Saturdays may be on the schedule for Tournaments/Meets.

  • Must be a high school graduate with some college credits.
  • Must be knowledgeable about the sport and have a positive coaching attitude
