Work at St. Mark's

St. Mark’s Episcopal School of Houston, TX, accepts applications for employment from qualified individuals. Positions are filled as they open. Application information is kept on file for one year.

Teachers are required to hold a degree in their teaching field (early childhood, elementary, middle school) and have training and experience in early childhood, elementary, primary or middle schools, commensurate with their requested position. Administrative and staff positions require experience and training supportive of the position. Salaries at St. Mark’s are competitive with local public and private schools.

Substitute teachers should be degreed and preferably experienced. Substitute teachers must complete the same procedures as an applicant for full-time employment.

6th Grade Science Teacher

St. Mark’s Episcopal School in Houston, Texas is seeking a creative, organized, team player to serve as a 6th Grade Science Teacher. This is an important member of the middle school faculty and reports directly to the Head of Middle School. We are looking for a forward-thinking and student-centered professional educator who is motivated by problem solving and leading students at this stage of their development.

 

The St. Mark’s 6th Grade Science Teacher is a crucial position for the students, families, and faculty at St. Mark’s Episcopal School. While this position encompasses many different duties, its primary function is to plan, organize and implement an appropriate science instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

Educational Technologist

St. Mark’s Episcopal School in Houston, Texas is seeking a creative, organized, team player to serve as Educational Technologist. The Educational Technologist is an important member of the Technology Department and reports directly to the Director of Technology.

The Educational Technologist will provide support and guidance in technology curriculum development and integration, teacher training, and instructional program design to enhance the student experience. The person in this position will help faculty members grow their technology skills and expand their understanding of how technology can enhance learning and impact each student’s future. Collaborating with faculty members, the Educational Technologist will assess educational needs and match those needs with appropriate technologies.

Understanding how technologies are actually used in a classroom setting is best developed through teaching experience; therefore, prior teaching experience is preferred. This position, which begins on July 1, 2017, requires using current and emerging technologies to support student learning and the classroom teaching experience. Part of the Educational Technologist’s job is technology support, such as troubleshooting and maintaining computer hardware and software. The ideal Educational Technologist candidate should have excellent communication skills, be a driven problem solver, and possess a well-developed knowledge of technology. A bachelor’s degree is required, and a master's degree in Educational Technology or a related field is preferred.

Primary Functions:

  • Guide and support teachers, staff, and other stakeholders in developing and implementing programs that support learning through technology integration
  • Facilitate projects, trainings, workshops, and demonstrations in support of technology use and curriculum integration
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate lessons to students in grades 5-8
  • Develop, model, and promote innovative and interesting lessons that encourage the effective use of technology in instruction
  • Serve as a resource in the following areas, including, but not limited to:

○      technical support

○      account creation

○      inventory and usage documentation

○      setup and support of meetings, presentation, and events

Required Skills:

Early Childhood Teaching Assistant

St. Mark’s Episcopal School in Houston, Texas is seeking a creative, organized, team player to serve as an Early Childhood Teaching Assistant.

The primary job of an early childhood teaching assistant at St. Mark’s is to work with the lead teacher to support the children as they participate in learning activities in the classroom. Other responsibilities may include: classroom set-up and snack preparation, helping to supervise children in the classroom, on the playground, and at lunch. As a member of the Lower School faculty, the assistant is expected to support the mission and philosophy of the school. Experience guiding children between the ages of two and five in a school setting along with either a CDA or education degree is preferred. The position is open until filled. Position hours are from 7:30 AM -3:45 PM. The position begins on August 7, 2017.

1st Grade Teaching Assistant

St. Mark’s Episcopal School in Houston, Texas is seeking a creative, organized, team player to serve as an Early Childhood Teaching Assistant.

Middle School Coaches

The Athletic department is seeking qualified coaches for Middle School girls volleyball teams, girls and boys basketball teams, and boys and girls track teams.

Hours are after the school day (Monday through Thursday):  Hours vary on game days as game times depend on  the game schedule:  approximately, 3:00 – 6:30 P.M.    Two hour practices are staggered for girls’ volleyball and basketball practices and vary within the hours of 3:00-7:00 PM.

At least two Fridays and/or Saturdays may be on the schedule for Tournaments/Meets.

  • Must be a high school graduate with some college credits.

  • Must be knowledgeable about the sport and have a positive coaching attitude

  • Salary is contractual.

After School Teachers

St. Mark’s Episcopal School has openings for Preschool through Middle School teachers and substitute teachers in our After School Program for the 2014-2015 school year. 

Qualifications: Must be 20 + years old

Child care and/or teaching experience with children strongly preferred.

Responsibilities: Supervising and interacting with students during age appropriate activities, snack and recess times. Assist elementary and middle school students with homework.

Hours: 2:30-6:00 p.m. Flexible if needed.

Salary: $12 / hour
