St. Mark’s Episcopal School in Houston, Texas is seeking a professional, welcoming, engaging individual to serve as the After School Receptionist. The After School Receptionist is a key position in the life and culture of the school. While there are several specific duties to this job, the main charge of this position is to warmly greet our school families and guests.
The Extended Programs Receptionist will arrive on campus at 12:30 PM to cover the front desk while the morning receptionist takes her one-hour lunch break. Between 1:30 and 3:40 PM, the Extended Programs Receptionist will work closely with the Director of Extended Programs to help prepare for our after school programming. At 3:40, the Extended Programs Receptionist will return to the front desk, taking calls, welcoming parents and guests, and answering questions until 6:00 PM, or until the last child is picked up.
●Receive students, visitors, guests, faculty, and staff in a friendly, courteous manner, and be sensitive to how her/his demeanor is reflective of the School
●Prioritize job duties with an awareness of having a front desk presence first
●Adapt accordingly to circumstances that arise
●Communicate issues, questions, and circumstances to the School’s administration in a timely and professional manner
●Cover the front desk while our School Receptionist takes her lunch break
●Prepare and serve snacks for our after school programming
●Work closely with the Director of Extended Programs to organize students into correct after school camps and help with changing into other clothing if camp requires it
●Return to the front desk to serve as the After School Receptionist from 3:40 to 6:00 PM
●Greet school families and guests as they enter the campus through the front door
●Ensure security using screening software and by directing campus visitors to sign in and carry a visitor badge
●Answer the phone and direct callers to the appropriate personnel
●Answer questions regarding school business
●Take messages when necessary
●Oversee students that check out for appointments and later return
●Support After School by keeping up with drop ins and notifying the student and teacher
●A love for working with children
●Proficiency in Microsoft Office
●Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
●Ability to learn new softwares, including our student information system and security software
●A warm, kind demeanor while operating the school phone system and greeting guests
●Proficiency in operating thefax machine, postage meter, and photocopier
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
●Ability to work in a sometimes stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges
●Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
●Physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; to bend, stoop, and reach overhead
The position begins on January 8, 2018.
