7th Grade
In 7th grade, students are encouraged to continue taking on more ownership of their learning as well as organization and management of deadlines and routines. Advisors and teachers work with students to develop further autonomy in the ways they study and learn. Classes are designed to give students more opportunities for choice in their learning and in demonstrating what they have learned. Additionally, 7th graders now have the option to take more challenging courses during Zero Hour or as an elective.
7th graders:
- develop stronger note-taking and study skills,
- begin to personalize their approach to different material,
- are encouraged to explore topics for themselves and drive their own learning to some extent,
- gain a significant amount of agency throughout the school year as they are empowered to make these decisions for themselves, and
- build leadership skills as they approach 8th grade.
