An Update about the 60th Anniversary Diamond Gala
It is with great disappointment that we announce that our 60th Anniversary Diamond Gala, scheduled for Saturday, March 28, will be canceled. The online auction will take place; stay tuned for updates about this important element of the event. Ultimately, the Gala is a meaningful fundraising event for St. Mark’s.
We are incredibly thankful for the dedication of our hardworking volunteers and Gala leadership team, especially Ramona Murphy, Angie Chadha, and Kelly Burke. This year was on track to be the most successful Gala to date, with a sold out crowd, generous underwriters, and a robust auction. We’re saddened and disappointed in this outcome, but we are committed to the well-being and health of our community.
We are grateful to those of you who have already committed to purchasing tables, becoming sponsors, or buying tickets. A request for a refund is, of course, perfectly reasonable in this situation. We hope, however, you might allow us to keep your gift, which is now 100% tax deductible. Financially, canceling the gala is a significant loss for the school, so we will be looking for ways to close that gap between now and June 30. Please know that your generosity would be deeply appreciated and make a real and lasting difference.
The annual spring gala to support St. Mark’s Episcopal School is a time-honored tradition. We rely on community partners to help us advance our mission and provide the best educational environment for our children.
The generous gift of our leadership team, underwriters, sponsors, and donors strengthen our ability to advance our mission while reducing our annual operating costs.
In even years we hold a Gala, an evening event with a seated dinner and a band. In odd years, we hold the more casual UnGala, which takes place here on campus with hors d’ oeuvres and a full bar. Proceeds from the St. Mark’s Gala or UnGala benefit special projects around campus. Funds from previous events have been earmarked for things like facility upgrades, keeping our campus secure, professional development, and our ongoing commitment to improving technology.
