An Annual Fundraising Tradition

The annual spring gala to support St. Mark’s Episcopal School is a time-honored tradition. We rely on community partners to help us advance our mission and provide the best educational environment for our children.

The generous gift of our leadership team, underwriters, sponsors, and donors strengthen our ability to advance our mission while reducing our annual operating costs.

Proceeds from the St. Mark’s Gala benefit special projects around campus. Funds from previous events have been earmarked for things like facility upgrades, keeping our campus secure, professional development, and our ongoing commitment to improving technology.

Gala Frequently Asked Questions

Where does the money go?

Proceeds from the St. Mark’s Gala benefit special projects around campus. Funds from previous events have been earmarked for things like supplementing the Green for Green campaign for new turf, facility upgrades, keeping our campus secure, professional development, and our ongoing commitment to improving technology.

How will the auction work?

We will open our auction for bidding the week of the event. All parents can bid online, whether they attend or not. You must be present to bid on live auction items.

The BidPal system will text you when you have been outbid if you allow that feature. The auction will end at 10:00 PM that evening, and checkout is easy with Bidpal. You can email yourself a receipt through the app after the event has concluded.

How can I help?

We need lots of volunteers before, during, and after the event. If you are interested in helping with something specific, or want to get involved email our Gala chairs!

When and where is the gala?

The gala is scheduled for Friday, April 20, 2018 at the St. Regis Hotel, starting at 7:00 PM.

Is there a hotel block?

The St. Regis Hotel is offering a courtesy rate for St. Mark’s guests of $169 per night.

Reservations can be made through their toll-free number 1-888-627-8194 by asking for the courtesy room block of St. Mark's Episcopal School.

Guests may also make reservations online here.

What should I wear?

Dress code: Creative black tie

“Creative black tie” is the dress code that allows you to have fun. Men, for instance, should feel free to wear a black shirt or a red bow tie—something other than the cookie-cutter penguin suit. Women are similarly encouraged to take their look less seriously. Still confused? Think of creative black tie as trendy black tie. Oftentimes, creative black tie is the expectation at theme parties with a dress code like “1920s Black Tie” or “Texas Black Tie,” and in those cases, choose a dressy look that works with the theme. For instance, with a dress code that calls for Texas Black Tie, a man would be dressed appropriately in a tuxedo, bolo tie, and cowboy boots, and a woman could wear a gown and a cowboy hat.

If I can't attend the Gala, can I still bid online?

Yes! You will receive a link to register on BidPal a week before the event. Bidpal is our online mobile bidding software. You can enter your payment information and bid from your mobile phone, tablet, or computer. You must be present to bid on live auction items.

How can I donate an auction item?

We would love to work with you! We have an in-kind agreement form that you can fill out with your information. We can offer auction donors visibility on our online auction as well as in our printed materials. Thank you for considering this important part of our event.
